The People play music. Relentlessly striving to avoid the branding of labels, The People don't allow any one description, be it Progressive Rock, Jam band, or indie to define them solely. Using the dense compositional style of the classical realm, the melodic sensiblility of the singer/songwriter & the improvisational quality of a jazz combo, The People create a unique listening experience like no other! Oliver Thompson (guitar), Sean Vinci (drums), Joe Augugliario (bass), and Russell Gillespie (keyboards/guitar), are simply four determined, hard-working, focused, and altogether wholesome individuals aspiring to make great music. They compose, they improvise, but most importantly they play music… in jeans!

Formed in 2004 The People have worked non-stop to create a name for themselves through CD's, T-shirts, stickers, and most importantly playing shows. The collection of setlists, pictures, and audio recordings of nearly every People show featured in the Live Archive section of their website is one of the few ways that The People have conjured a devout following.

The latest buzz on www.thepeoplemusic.net however, has been the much anticipated release of thier first studio album, appropriately titled after the opening lyric, "Where Do I Begin". Nine tracks and 55 minutes long, this rock and roll montage touches on everything from Frank Zappa to Elliott Smith, Quincy Jones to Johnny Cash, and Pearl Jam to Bela Bartok. No doubt an ear-full, these combined influences make The People quite a melting pot.
