The Pantry Raid combines the sounds of solid acoustic guitars with catchy bass lines and diverse percussion. They put their own twist on sounds that are influenced from Phish, Widespread Panic, and Guster, just to name a few. The Pantry Raid's self-titled release contains thirteen tracks that derive from many influences. Some tunes, such as "Anymore" and "Poe's Lament" are acoustic ballad-like tunes. The band then switches it up with catchy, up-beat tunes like "Chained", "13 Miles to Cleveland", as well as "Dance Machine," which includes a rap. Along with strong guitars and catchy bass riffs, the percussion of the band changes throughout the album as well. The album consists of drum kit, along with congas, bongos, and even the djembe. The music sets it up for the vocals of Scott Towler, who provides a strong and soulful presence to every song. The band, consisting of three members: Geoff Siess, Scott Towler, and Alex Shorts, are juniors at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. This is their first self release after only being together for about a year now. Yet after a year, the band has come a long way with a sound that is constantly maturing. All songs were self-produced and written by The Pantry Raid themselves. The Pantry Raid may be a young band of 21 year olds, but they possess a sound far beyond their years.
