the "ostrich-back-riders" were formed purely by accident deep inside a secret song laboratory belonging to a freaky dude by the name of "the overdubbing idiot"....here is a short summary of the story..... several years ago, he and an associate; a drummer who we call "play-dem-little-drums-one-mo-glenn", were experiencing the wonders of the internet for the first time and were discussing how vast the topics could be on the world wide web.... to prove just how crazy a subject one could find information on, via the web, "the overdubbing idiot" challenged his drumming friend to think of the wildest, most off-the-wall subject he could and they would conduct a search for it.... well, he came up with.... you guessed it.... "ostrich-back-riding"!.... as you may also guess, they soon found several websites containing information on this subject.... later on that day, while enjoying a nice cold beer, the two "musicians" laughed out loud while contemplating the humor in "ostrich-back-riding" and it was suggested as a funny band name.... this suggestion was first scoffed at as a name, but eventually was adopted and has evolved into a monster of sorts that has become somewhat of a novelty. another fellow known as "coondawg" who resides in tennessee, soon joined and added a whole new blues element to the o.b.r.'s sound.... "the overdubbing idiot" records all of their music, whether planned or spontanneous, this has resulted in some very interesting and unusual songs, some of which have even made it to the radio airwaves. the famous "dr. demento" has featured "the ostrich-back-riders" on his show and disc jocky, "klark qent" has played the "overdubbing idiot's" music for cincinnati listeners on his show, 'an afternoon bizarre" on waif-fm. recently, "coondawg", by way of hounding, forced "the overdubbing idiot" to venture from his creepy song laboratory in mississippi all the way up to columbia, tennessee to join him and a few other characters for a session known as "the big ride".... added to the line-up were "brother pork chop" and "mista magoo" along with two sit-in musicians in an experimental improvisational jam session which resulted in a new, sparkling version of the "ostrich-back-riders".... this seven-headed monster is just waiting to explode in a living room near you.... experience the jovial "pork chop" wailing on one of his many mouth harps with enthusiasm, along with a platter of fresh goose!.... hell, listening to "coondawg" is a joy in itself!.... later on we can all go out back and play a few rounds of frisbee golf and, if you want, you can even join in on some ostrich-back-riding.... either way, you will get an earfull of the oddest stuff east of the mississippi.... "ostrich-back-riders" is not only a name, but a metaphor for improvisational jamming; "ostrich-riding".... it is also intended to be humorous and to conjure up a rediculous image in one's mind of a silly person riding on the back of an ostrich.... so "get yo head up outta the sand" and get on your ostrich and ride!.... get their new cd, "freak out! with the overdubbing idiot and the ostrich-back-riders" right now and get ready for a ride! ....an ostrich-back-ride!
