Recorded at Progressive Enterprises in Elizabethtown, PA, July 30, 31, and August 1. This is a promotional EP that gives a preview of The Green Onions' first full length album. It contains an improvisational jam and an unheard version of Radioactive that will both not be available on the full length album. Central Pennsylvania is an area where nothing ever seems to happen. However, there is a fresh, yet somewhat familiar sound soaring through the cow-filled pastures of Lancaster County. It is the sound of The Green Onions. In these times of flashy musicians, gimmick-based songwriting, and the all too common copycat rock bands, The Green Onions are offering an alternative. This band creates music for the sake of creating music. People have tried to categorize The Green Onions' by calling them a jamband or a rock band. Perhaps the best way to look at them is as a combination of those ideals. Their music has a classic rock undertone, yet it is approached from a jazz perspective. One can expect to hear great rock n' roll that can take off into other musical stratospheres at any time through group improvisation. Over the past few years, The Green Onions have worked to create an original sound integrating their influences. The growling and screaming organ-work is provided by Cort Byron whose style shows his appreciation for the great organ players of 1960's rhythm and blues and rock n' roll. Corty Byron incorporates his love of jazz and blues into his screaming, soaring guitar solos, and his strong vocals bring to mind great singers like Joe Cocker and Greg Allman. Thundering beneath everything are Mike Dinse's melodic bass lines and speedy scale runs, which stem from influences like Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, and Mike Gordon. Scott Frenchek adds a wonderful textural touch with his unconventional keyboard work. Drummer John Gasparich seeps rhythmic textures as he channels influences like Billy Martin, John Fishman, and John Bonham. Finally, the hypnotic, crisp, rhythmic chopping and sweet, melodic, guitar solos are provided by Chris Gurreri. "I think they'll get signed soon. I saw them open for the Badlees about two months ago and was blown away. I think they're the most talented band to come out of here since the Badlees," said Chris James, program director with WTPA 93.5 FM radio station.
