Richie Nieto, Gonzalo deTrejo and Rodrigo Bermudez had grown restless playing in various commercial rock bands, and needed a creative outlet to experiment without regarding public opinion. This generated a mostly self-indulgent project based on a concept in which the audience is a witness instead of a target. So Neurotica was born. Ever since its inception in 1991 in Costa Rica, the trio's behaviour has always been consistent in its unpredictability: it suddenly gathers, writes a song or two, plays a show and then dissapears again. And even more strangely, the band has managed to attract a loyal following who eagerly await their next show and pack venues virtually by word-of-mouth. Given this strange metabolism, their first album, recorded in 1997 after more than a year of absolute inactivity, has taken almost 15 years to see the light of day since its first tune was written.
