Earman Ali introduces 7ft. Speak Easy Diva on Liquilab Records hosted by: Daniel "Gravy" Thomas Earman: (1917-40s) a musician who does not read sheet music, who plays rather "by ear." Dictionary of Afro-American Slang by Clarence Major

Earman Ali takes form from the collaboration efforts of ignorant artists that Daniel "Gravy" Thomas has come to love. These are not songs, they are moans...exotic, temperate, agitated, and judicious moans. Earman Ali starts with a voice that acts as a mating call to all able instruments that construct a vibrant home for every moan.

Earman Ali is: Daniel "Gravy" Thomas - voice
Derrick Hines - Keys, vocals, percussion
Tony Mccullough - Sax,pipes, vocals,vibes
Dustin Clifford - Drums
Phil Disher - Drums, grooves
Steve Mcmillian - Bass
Dave Haire - Turntables, Percussion
Mike Vagianos - Guitar
Kanika Heartley - special guest w/ atmosphere

About Gravy: A man with an addiction, he who cannot stop translating! Since conception he has been taking notes but it wasn't until the mid- nineties when he met the X-periment did his notes become lyrical excursions that many call "poetry" or "spoken word" become a reality. Born in NJ, as a student of the extremely healthy Philadelphia music scene, traveling abroad, to return to the states and begin his artistic journey in North Carolina.

Recognized as one of the most involved activist for freedom of voice, Gravy took his energy to the people from the smoke filled bars, to the speaker's corners, street corners, theater houses, church pulpits, schools & universities, the painters canvas, to the emcee cipher, to the punk music mosh pit, and finally to the band stand. where all this experience can fit!

Thus introducing 7ft Speak Easy Diva a vocal and musical accomplishment that gave birth to Earman Ali. Recorded over a weekends time in Charlotte NC, during the Spring of 2001 as the listed musicians locked themselves in Scrimshaw Studio surrounded by collaborating and inspired painters, and 72 hours later came out with 7ft Speak Easy Diva based off of pure improvisations. Never rehearsed ...Never intended to be!
