Many images spark to mind when hearing the
name "Something to Burn" but one thought for sure
ignites from the first listen to this bands self titled debut cd ! " This band ROCKS!"
A near flawless rock record from the first thunderous
explosion of the intro "raise the horns" to the last guitar
harmonic glis of "24 kts." STB takes you on a journey
from the heavy pounding syncopated grooves of songs like "strain" and "picture" to the strong emotional pull of
the sure to be rock classics "wires across the sky"
and "the wreckage." Something to Burn to put it simply
delivers on every track of this record!!
When asked to describe the bands sound guitarist
Jimmy Norman chimes in and says, " I've heard fans
say we sound like so many different bands, which I think
is a good thing because as a band we all have so many
different influences that make up who we are but at the
end of the day we just really want to be a great rock band!"
Something to Burn's rhythm section is quite unique
in the fact that not only do brothers Jeff (bass) and Shawn Ballard (drums) share an inseparable chemistry being that
they are twins they were both inspired to pick up instruments at a very young age haven been turned on to such greats as KISS and Johnny Cash by their older siblings.
Upon relocating from the Midwest to Los Angeles the
brothers met up with another transplant to the west coast following his rock and roll dream.
Guitarist Jimmy Norman, this true guitar virtuoso found a perfect fit inside the astonishing tightness that Shawn and Jeff had already possessed on their instruments and
immediately the three started honing in on the sound that would become STB.
Once they had the makings of the musical foundation
they set out auditioning singers from all over to put a signature stamp on a sound that warranted nothing
less than a strong and original presence. After countless auditions in came Vinny Lombardo straight from the
NYC. His rich thick vocal tone and vast melodic lyrical sense was precisely what they needed to finish the line up of what is now Something to Burn!
"Once we completed our first demo of the song picture,
(which is still a fan favorite today), I knew we had something special!" says stb guitarist Jimmy.
Everything started to snowball for the band as they
set out to give the fans of their music something they have been yearning for along time....A great rock show!
Something to Burns hits the stage with such an explosive energy that it must be seen to be believed. "You have to
put on a show and give all you have back to the fans that
are there for you, they deserve nothing less than 150%!" says stb drummer Shawn.
As the momentum grew with countless live shows it was time for the band to get down and record these songs that were already captivating the hearts and minds of many. With acclaimed producer Carlos Villalobos (Filter, National Product) at the helm they did just that and created this debut cd "Something to Burn" available first to the public via cdbaby!
