In 2000 the five members of Sideways Eight (SW8) joined together with one goal in mind; create great music that would not only reflect their influences as musicians, but also appeal to a wide listening audience. Over the last five years their fan base and respect from fellow musicians has steadily grown along with their prowess in the modern-alt-rock genre. Competing regularly across the southeastern U.S. in numerous 'Battles' against hundreds of other bands they have repeatedly won awards for 'Most Professional Show', 'Best Overall Musical Talent', and 'Best Male Vocals'. Combining angst laden lyrics with powerful guitar riffs and soaring vocal harmonies, Sideways Eight's appeal is spreading rapidly from their home base of Charlotte, NC to encompass the southeastern and northeastern rock markets. In late 2000 the band finished 16th out of over 200 bands in a MP3 Battle of The Bands sponsored by Jagermeister and MP3.Com. Jagermeister was impressed with the bands music and decided to officially sponsor the band. Jagermeister has continually contributed free merchandise and advertising to help further the cause of a band they consider one of its greatest supporters. In 2005 the bands song "Isolation" was chosen for the offical Jagermeister promo CD for nationwide distribution. With their new CD release look for plenty of wild nights and enticing promotions from Jagermeister and the beautiful Jagerettes at a Sideways Eight show at a venue near you! Sideways Eight has also performed at many festivals including the Speed Street Festival in Charlotte, NC--an entertainment and music festival supporting the annual Charlotte NASCAR Race, that has featured such acts as Chevelle, 3 Doors Down, Third Eye Blind, Tantric, and more. SW8's reputation continues to grow as one local club owner was quoted as saying "This is what a live band should be". Sideways Eight's new album 'Lost In Time' has already begun to generate a buzz in the ROCK music industry. Just released January 2005, with songs such as "Isolation", "Shine", and "Goodbye" already receiving wide acclaim, look for this band to 'take no prisoners' until it reaches the top.
