ROCK MASS was conceived when the Roman Catholic Church approached Rob Volpintesta with the idea of performing his brand of rock music in Sunday Mass to attract younger people (Rob had already released albums with Sacred Oath (metal), Soundscape (Prog-rock), and Thorne (rock-opera)). Between 2000-2001, several songs were written, rehearsed, and performed by Rob Volpintesta with a teen band and choir in Connecticut. The idea was to keep the music varied enough to represent both Rob's composition style and the kids participating in the group, while maintaining the ceremonial aspect of the liturgy. This recording is an amazing snapshot of that exciting period in Danbury Connecticut, when the kids found their spiritual voice.
