Formed in late 1999, MINDCANDY has quickly established themselves as one of Detroit's hardest rocking and most compelling live bands. Mindcandy's sonic assault draws upon the melodic sensibilities of Stone Temple Pilots and The Doors while combining it with the ear slamming guitar crunch of Black Sabbath, Godsmack and Disturbed. Call it Nu-Metal, heavy alternative, or loud rock-- no matter what the label -Mindcandy rocks like with the intensity of the Incredible Hulk in a firestorm. Mindcandy has been featured on numerous Detroit commercial radio stations including 89X, 101 WRIF, 97.1 FM and Lansing's The Edge. The band is in regular rotation at Toledo's Rock 106. Additionally, Real Detroit Weekly named Mindcandy "Best Hard Rock/Metal Band". Further attesting to the band's popularity, were two packed shows at Detroit's legendary State Theatre- where a crowd of over 2000 Mindcandy fans rocked to the band's powerhouse live show. While promoting their debut CD "Anger Management" - Mindcandy played live in-store at seven consecutive Harmony House locations - a feat no other band in Detroit has matched. Mindcandy has shared the stage with many national acts including Living Color's Vernon Reid, Tesla, Gene Loves Jezebel and more. Now touring in support of their new CD "Fortune Teller" (Aural Pleasure Records) Mindcandy is red hot with showcases at SXSW and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March. Produced by renowned knob twister Mark Berry (David Bowie, Duran Duran), the ten-track "Fortune Teller" is a stellar rock record possessing enough motor city muscle to knock out even Joe Louis. The disc also features artwork by famed artist Matt Busch, who's credits include "Star Wars," "The Matrix," and "Reservoir Dogs. " With "Fortune Teller" picking up speed on radio across the nation, don't miss Mindcandy on their spring club tour - as this band is certainly destined for arenas.
