Is it about the music or is it about the beer? Gazoonga Attack have been on some kind of twelve guage stage rampage since 2001 - from supporting The Hard-Ons nationally, to touring on the 2003 Livid festival and playing at the 2004 Gold Coast Big Day Out festival. According to Gazoonga Attack they'll play any show as long as there's more booze there than at the last. This philosophy has seen many long nights, sometimes it's good --- getting drugs thrown at them while supporting their heroes Mudhoney, The Bronx, Peaches. Sometimes it's bad --- getting explosives thrown at them while playing at secret biker headquarters. But it's all in the name of a party! And soundtrack to the party is SEX NERD: 14 tracks of screaming guitars and hard-hitting drums that back up the confessions of four beauty school drop-outs on a rock n roll mission to seduce, score, skull and skedaddle. But no no no, Sex Nerd does not sound like it was played by girls! Opener 'Random Act Of The Devil' sets the scene with the bloodshot tale of an allnighter while 'Disko #69' will have you slipping on the bodily fluids on the dancefloor. 'Won't you come to my party?' the chorus screams. Yes, I'll come to your party! And I'll tell all my friends and we'll bring vodka and twister. It's gonna be the best muthafukkin party this side of Brisbane. SEX NERD REVIEW: Rolling Stone Australia - September 2004 - 3 stars out of 5. Seems the tough chicks who smoked in the dunnies, wore too much make-up and beat up nerdy boys after school turned out Most Likely To Succeed after all. Gritty, jarring, insanely catchy and packing a gutsy harmonic edge that lifts them above the pack, Brisbane's Gazoonga Attack flaunt their no-bullshit independent attitude on these 14 tight tracks (recorded in seven days). Even incorporating occasional rock and metal aspects, it's all straight-down-the-line punk-rock. But what the energetic four may lack in arrangement, they more than make up for with enthusiasm and fuck-you spirit, breaking tattooed hearts aplenty with their raw production and making a mighty sonic stand. LIVE REVIEW: Gazoonga Attack Sex Nerd album launch @ The Zoo, Brisbane. Friday 22 Oct 2004. by Carl Snatch, Time Off Magazine. Like Bon Scott and Joan Jett, GAZOONGA ATTACK are straight-up 100 per cent rock as they finally launch their debut album SEX NERD. With no need for fanfare or even an intro, Tamara, Elea, Renae and Serinda slink onto the stage, plug in and let the rest speak for itself. The first few tunes come thick and fast so by the time they let loose with 'Down The Alibi' the room is getting sweaty. 'Flash In The Panty' shows the three-girl frontline unloading on the crowd while during 'Disko #69' the pit of people dancing are now jumping and cascading around the front of the room. It's a sight not enough seen in this venue. The ball-bustingly heavy 'Hacienda Motor Inn' is stretched to epic proportions and combined with an explosion of balloons, champagne and even a gimp, leaving everyone within arms reach with that sweet, sticky feeling. The set comes to a glorious climax with a fine rendition of The Stooges' 'Loose'. Tonight is more sex than nerd and more fun than a good... Check out the artist's website: http://www.gazoongaattack.com Track List: 1. Random Act Of The Devil 2. Disko #69 3. 3am & Who Are You? 4.
