Pennsylvania's Dead Leaves, with their first full length release on Solution6 Records, makes instantly clear that the band is not one to follow a trend. There's no rap, no techno, no gadgets; it's rock music, sometimes heavy, sometimes loud, solidifying into a sound and vibe that is full of heavy, meaty, dark grooves and insistent melodies. Music displaying deep, clear, vocals with moody lyrics that dig deep at a listeners soul.. From straight up rocker songs like 'Heroine' and 'No Reply', to mood invoking songs like 'Fall Back' and 'Scent of a Kiss', mixed in with the emotional up's and down's of powerful tracks like 'Black Sav' and 'President' there is no mistaking the Dead Leaves sound. Born of a wide range of influences, band members have been exposed to music that has crossed generations, but the band demonstrates a sound exclusive to Dead Leaves. Dead Leaves has made major inroads into the music scene with their 2000 self-titled debut, a five song demo CD that had sold over 3 thousand units in less than 6 months without distribution support. The Current release, 'Your Kind is labeled' is distributed through Midwest Artist Distribution and Transworld and is currently well into it's second pressing after only 2 months. Leading the online music contest at garageband.com was another noteworthy accomplishment. The contest, based on blind reviews on the quality of the music, not the popularity of the band, was an eye opening experience for Dead Leaves. At one point all five submitted Dead Leaves demo songs were ranked in the top 15 songs in hard rock, competing against thousands of original songs in that genre. In the overall contest, competing against over 100,000 songs, Dead Leaves had been nominated for and won honors for 'Best Male Vocals', 'Best Guitars', 'Best Potential Movie Soundtrack', 'Best Lyrics ', 'Moodiest Track', 'Most Original Track' and more. Dead Leaves was honored to be chosen to showcase their live performance at the 2001 and 2002 'Millenium Music Conferences' in Harrisburg, PA., as well as the 2001 'Philadelphia Music Conference'.
