BLACKCAST:

Let's take it from the start in '93...

Originally known as The Shoecrackers of Bethlehem, Kris Jung, Brian Levine and Cory Danziger spent the majority of their teenage years playing all of the major clubs in the Los Angeles area. For four years, they tore up venues like The Roxy, The Whiskey and Club Mancini, with sold out crowds. The band even broke a record at Doug Weston's Troubador, with the largest attendance set by a non-touring band. To date, this record has yet to be broken.

After a brief hiatus, the band reformed as Radio Free America in 2001. With Kris Jung on vocals and guitar, Cory Danziger on vocals and guitar, Brian Levine on drums and bassist Matt Booth, the band has spent the last two years working with Producer Steve Deutsch of MARS Recording Studio. Deutsch, who is best known for his work with Van Dyke Parks, No Doubt, Iggy Pop, and The Smashing Pumpkins, recorded and produced the band's first full length album, The Song That Saved My Life in a matter of three months. "RFA is truly a live band, that's why laying down the initial tracks was so easy. They went into the studio, broke a few strings, and walked out with the bed of their record. That's when the fun begins for me."

Unfortunately 2004 marked the end of RFA with band members going there seperate ways in life. Kris stepped out on his own to explore his muse as a solo artist. Taking riffs he had been sitting on for a while and comming up with new ideas that gave away his favorite aspect of music, the emotion and angst! In late 2005 he called up his old pal Steve Deutsch to produce once again. Recording the drums first, bass, guitars and then singing, Kris' vision manifested into something he says is "The best thing I've ever been a part of". Steve called a past recording partner, Bjorn Thorsrud, mixing engineer (Smashing Pumpkins), at CRC Recording Studios in Chicago to mix the album. They wanted to guarantee that the music reached it's full potential and sure enough he was the right man for the job making the record sound bigger and better than anything Kris had done before. They decided to simply give a taste of the full length record to come by releasing four killer tunes on the first BLACKCAST release, "ANYWHERE".

With these new productions Steve had decided to take the next step in forming a record company, Spacebar Recordings. With his roster of talented artists ( Graham Lindsey & BLACKCAST) with whom he had produced it was now time to hit the airwaves and spread joy & chaos to the world.
