from http://www.viciousnyc.com
Being unloved and attention-starved is bound to create self-acceptance issues within a person, but this surely doesn’t apply to a spacey, prog-rock, shoe-gaze band from New York City. This quartet formed over the summer of 2004 and has been playing live since October of the same year. Unlove combines hard-driving electro-sounding drums with steady post-punk bass, dreamy guitar chords and beautifully haunting vocals like Love Spirals Downwards or the Cocteau Twins. The seductive, hypnotic vocals themselves evoke the eerie and giddy doom spells weaved by Siouxsie Sioux. Unlove is Kristina Zubkova (vocals and keyboards), Jenks Whittenburg (bass), Kevin Mazzarelli (guitar), and Trip Hosmer, (drums). The band is preparing to release an EP in September produced by Eli Janney and has played at several clubs in Manhattan and Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
