"[boom boom]" captures ORACLE SHACK in its hometown of Moscow, ID and at John's Alley, practically a second home to the band, for what was an inspired performance after their first summer of touring the Northwest. These nine tracks were chosen to represent the 3+ hour show, and includes guest appearances by longtime collaborators Jeremy Martin on rants and anti-sax and Lisa Simpson on vocals. "Solarstance" (written by Milo Duke; arranged by Milo and Oracle Shack) is performed with Milo Duke on acoustic guitar and vocals--the ensuing noise revolt with Milo ripping the strings from his ax unfortunately did not get recorded. ORACLE SHACK is Noah Beck (guitar and vocals), Cameron Bouiss (drums and vocals), Ryan Gibler (bass and vocals), Eric Gilbert (keyboards and vocals). these are words that come to mind: dancey, progressive, bold, raw, free, patient, complex, playful, helicopters, dynamic, melodic, textural, atmospheric, rolling hills, clouds, adventurous, unassuming, ever-evolving, geometrical avant-indie-soulfusion, dancerockmaninov, the ridiculous and the sublime, conceptual, inspired, post-jam, electro-rock, post-punk, post-rock, post-post, honest, real, passionate, space, architectural, human, experiential,... the members of ORACLE SHACK are influenced by so many artists (musical, visual, intellectual, etc.), ideas, landscapes, so much universe, so much life, so much culture, that it seems impossible to consider naming a "few" influences. It's not that this music is void of style, it just isn't easily characterized or associated. Similar in spirit to many, yes, but together something all its own. -also check out the new studio album also on CD Baby! called "...into skies diving..."
