"One of Halifax's up and coming bands" - The Watch. In spring 2005, four music students from Halifax West High School and two musicians in their late teens and early twenties formed, October Game. The October Game name was inspired by a local Halifax band of the early eighties. The band has been described as the new generation of Dave Matthews. The Band’s diversity is expressed though contemporary rock/pop with a laid back groove.

In August they released their first CD. By November their CD release party packed the Regency Room at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax. Their second CD was released June 2006 Stuck In Dreams to rave reviews. This band is noted for the young talent, musicianship, creativity, and for the love of jamming.

Band members have participated in all-city jazz and choir programs, musical productions, orchestral groups, and provincial, regional and international events. Members include: song writer Matthew Beasant-McKeown (lead vocals/acoustic and electric guitar), Alyssa McCarthy (piano/synthesizer), Patrick Edmonds (Bass), Jay Andrews (congas/bongo's/beat boxing), Sean Weber (tenor saxophone/rap), and Connor Josey (drumkit)
