Tom Marshall, the writer for Phish, embarks on a non-Phish project. Using writers and performers from Amfibian, The Saras, Rana and elsewhere, "Amfibian Tales" is a collaborative effort through and through. Tom's lyrics rest on a lush, guitar-band bed, with Cottone and Kohut providing the solid rhythmic pocket on most of the 16 songs. Despite the personnel changing slightly from song to song, there is a unifying sound, perhaps created by the cozy atmosphere of Tom's New Jersey farm studio where the disk was recorded.
