In the summer of 2005, Adam Afridi brought his acoustic guitar over to the home of Brian Bickel for what they thought was just an informal jam session before a Bob Dylan concert. What happened next nobody would have guessed. In less than 3 months they had named themselves DIFFERENCE DRIVER (a reference to their mutual daytime jobs in Marketing Research) and had written, recorded, and released their debut album 'Devil On My Shoulder' entirely on the merits of their own talents, ambition, toil, and determination.

The chemistry of these two musicians was immediately apparent in that first jam session. While they knew before this time they shared a deep passion for a wide range music, what they never expected to find was the mutual talent they possessed and how vastly complimentary their skills were.

The success of 'Devil On My Shoulder' merely whetted their appetite to make even better music. Immediately following the release of 'Devil' in October 2005, recording began for what would be 'Soul Seeker'.

As a whole, 'Soul Seeker' takes on a more soothing and soulful sonic texture than does its predecessor. With reflective lyrics about life, love, loss, regret, and self-discovery, and more 'rootsy' instrumentation such as harmonica, mandolin, lap steel guitar, accordion, and keyboards, the result is a collection of songs that run the gamete of emotions from fear, aggression, confusion, joy, sorrow. The common thread is passion and soulfulness.
