She has appeared in the films SHADOWLANDS, REMAINS OF THE DAY and A FEW SELECTED EXITS for BBC Wales about the life of Gwyn Thomas. During the summer of 2002 Abigail established Possessed Records as an independent label, with the aim of providing thought provoking and emotive, evocative music. At the same time she recorded her debut album, "Smile Road", with producers John Winfield and Keith Osborne. The songs on Smile Road have been described as an "eclectic blend of folk, jazz and blues", but it is difficult to categorize them into any particular genre. Abigail believes that creating music should be an organic process that is flexible and imaginative and not conveniently wrapped up in categories. Abigail covers a wide range of subjects in her songs, from lost love, the abuse of women through prostitution, the destruction of the environment, homelessness, the stereotyping of women, the fragility of humanity, to death and mystical longing. Abigail's album has a political thread running through it, although it is the characters of the songs who speak about society's injustices. Abigail believes that interpretation should be left to the listener since each individual will experience a song differently and in their own unique way. Abigail believes it is also important for music to depict both the dark and light aspects of life, for only by embracing and acknowledging the two, can the disowned parts of ourselves and our society be healed and better understood. Abigail's forthcoming album, "Blue Satin Alley" has now been recorded and is set for release 27th June 2005, and will be available through all major retailers across the UK and of course here at CD Baby.
