ben bleecker was found, days old, on the stoop of a greenwich village brownstone in november of 1975. an accompanying note identified him only as "benjamin". nurses at st. vincent's hospital gave him the surname bleecker, after the name of the street on which he'd been left.

on his thirteenth birthday a foster brother gave him a stolen gibson les paul. he learned to play it. soon, he wrote songs.

in 1992 he signed with a small, san francisco-based record label. very shortly thereafter he suffered a psychological breakdown and lost the power of speech for a period of nearly six months. the album was never recorded.

it was seven years before bleecker wrote music again. in 1999 he started producing between two and four songs per year, and publishing them online under various pseudonyms, including "walter gibbon".

ben bleecker lives and works in manhattan. he does not perform publicly, and does not work with other musicians.
