Mark often dreams of rhinos. Sometimes he dreams of snakes and occasionally birds, but usually rhinos. When he wakes, they are fresh on his mind, an inspirational vision, and he briskly walks down the hall of his New Jersey apartment to the studio. There he erratically paints layers of sonic dissonance with a Gibson SG, a conglomeration of effects, and an array of keyboards collected over the years. Later on, the chaos will be sorted by his protégé Lori Adams; and drum loops, percussion, samples and bass will be added. The result is an innovative project called TV Clinic.

TV Clinic is one half of former edgy indie rock outfit called Genepool who played throughout New York City in the late 90s. Founded on the eve of the last day of the 20th century, Mark Greenberg, singer/guitar player, and Lori Adams, bassist, decided to dust off and re-record previous 4 track ideas that they had written in between tour dates. Four of these tracks can be heard on their debut release, "Sleep Devastation."

Mark and Lori had both grown tired of the traditional four/five piece band situation. Lori spent several years playing in a New York band called the Drag Triplets, and after a few independent releases and years of performances with the likes of Miranda Sex Garden, The New Creatures and God is My Co-Pilot, the band decided to call it quits. Early on in her career, she played guitar in an all-female thrash metal band called Hari-Kari which was produced by Dave Spitz of Black Sabbath and managed by Eric Carr of Kiss prior to his death in 1991. The band toured throughout the U.S. and performed with Danzig, Suicidal Tendencies and Testament.

Mark played guitar in New York bands Windsor Hollow and EAP before teaming up with Steve Vasko of Black Sea to form Genepool. A year after Lori joined on bass, she and Mark began heading in new directions, fusing electronic elements and influences with their guitar-based style. When the band split, TV Clinic was born and went full-force ahead with their half analog and half digital, half human and half computerized sound.

The title "Sleep Devastation" is a play on words which mirrors the ominous, unpredictable sound of the music which lurks and leans in and out of turmoil. Adding to the mix of Mark's somber, moody vocal style is the assault of Lori's five string Fender Jazz bass, sometimes dry and smooth, other times buzzingly distorted. Mark's lyrics are derived from the harsh reality that "each night we go to sleep we take with us the prospect of devastation from an over-abused, dying planet." He then adds, "It's enough to give someone sleep depravation."
