Russell square is a "young" band from Seattle, WA with a unique sound, possibly best described as melodic rock. Although having only played together for the last year, the band has managed to create a unique sound. Merging influences such as U2, Coldplay, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Radiohead, to name only a few; has enabled them to write songs that draw the listener in, allowing them to experience a new sound that is slightly familiar. After years of individually experimenting with diverse genres, band hopping and refining their personal styles, the songwriting duo of Aaron Crawford and Jesse Weed came together to form russell square. In the last year the lineup has been fine-tuned into the perfect mix. The driving drum beats of Aaron "Deuce" Hingtgen, the haunting guitar melodies laid down by Jesse Weed, and the unpretentious bass-playing of Grant Yeager are woven tightly together by the emotion-laden vocals of Aaron Crawford. The band's freshman project, entitled Copasetic, produced by Scott Meder of Hungry Fish productions, (Grammatrain, Aaron Sprinkle) was completed in June and was released August 14th, 2002. The promotion will include college, commercial, and internet radio stations along the West Coast. The band and their supporters will be putting a major effort into promoting and touring beginning in August, and continuing well into the New Year. Be sure to keep an eye on this up-and-coming band, and don't forget to check out Copasetic, available in many local record stores and major online retailers.
