Pastmistakes couldn't have picked a better title for their sophomore effort, "...and the story doesn't end." Derailed after their first CD, the critically acclaimed "Try To Blink," (Seasonal Affect Recordings) the band did a bit of growing and restructuring to get back on track. And the new album shows that it was all well worth the wait. "...and the story doesn't end" reflects a widening horizon for the band, both in terms of musical vision and lyrical perspective. Sure, the band has stayed true to their original emocore blueprint. But the new recordings usher in a host of new influences as well as some surprise instruments (such as violins on one track!) to spice up the mix. Growing up doesn't necessarily mean becoming staid. Instead, the band has acquired the maturity and depth of vision which provides stronger impact and an appeal to a wider spectrum of fans. Past Mistakes' mix of melodicism, power and emotional intensity will earn them a place on your record shelf next to bands like Lifetime, The Get Up Kids and Thursday.
