This album was produced to raise the consciousness of the people of the world: to help them be aware of the great hardships endured by the Tibetan people, and their great contribution to the world as a totally non-violent society.
We recorded this album with a 7-piece that day at Zone Studios in Orlando. My friend Billy Todd had just gotten his new studio up and running and we went in, in the 'dead of summer' to record. The sun was BLAZING outside and we were inside with all the doors closed, NO AIR CONDITIONING! We all had some real rock and roll sweat goin' that day! I was used to playing my sweet little rock stuff..keyboard volume set between 2 and 3. First thing Billy did was to walk over to me and turn the keyboard up to TEN! He's a REAL rock bass player..Billy brought out something in me that I didn't even know was there--that's why I ended up SCREAMING the end of the first cut....my teen angst emerged..at last! Thanks, Billy....forever!
Back to Tibet...check our web site www.layla.org for the details.
The album cover is a 'trip'...literally. It is a sand painting mandala that is thousands of years old, used by the Tibetan monks as a meditation. It's called "The Bridge of Time". I think it is a secret door for time-travel. Try it and see!
The Tibetan people are historically, and at the present time, the most peaceful people God ever made. They deserve our help. Look deep inside your soul and see if there is something..anything.. that YOU might do to help them.
