In an overcrowded industry, nothingnew has established itself as stand-out in LA's punk scene. Armed with a college education and a little too much angst, four guys with a range of influences brought musical chaos to a sweltering Inland Valley garage in the summer of 1999. Jack (vocals/guitar) and Dennis (drums) banged out hardcore riffs and slamming punk beats, while Randy (bass) and Ryan (vocals/guitar) rounded off the sound with their melodic stylings. As time smoothed out the sound, the band formed something that was, well, nothing new, but that had struck a chord with audiences at the band's first shows in LA's suburban empire. The intensity of the live performance continues to awe crowds in nothingnew's home in the LA's South Bay. Since their humble beginnings, nothingnew has changed its lineup into a 3-piece (nixing Ryan and Randy, and adding Pete) that somehow radiates more power than ever. The second independent release, not conquered, though overcome, showcases their power in songwriting and diversity as a band, but the live shows are a true testament to nothingnew's presence and permanence as a South Bay punk outfit.
