**CD SOLD OUT - CD available DIGITALLY only via CD Baby/ITUNES** Essentially the work of one man, the project known as Life of Crime is one of technical variations, heady vocals and serious melancholy. The name may conjure the face of a punk-agitated thirty-something trying to relive his teens, but Life of Crime is perhaps the farthest thing from that. Kurt Marshke, the mind behind the Life, the songs and the perfect vocal resonance takes deep felt words and wraps them around twisting guitars and electronic distortion, all enveloped in his roped, Buckley-tinged voice that slides around haunting gothic lullabies and Americana stories. Stretched-out pieces that interwine with overdrawn sounds, Demos For The Choirbook is a thought out, well-woven tug at the deepest and darkest parts of your mind/heart. And while the album begins with pop-minded tunes that ring with a gently hooked chorus, as in "Blindfolded" and "Breathing," the base of Life of Crime remains a fulfillment of deep listening, somber guitars and a walk into the spiritual side of studio sonics.
