description:

This debut cd brings you into its scenery with quiet approach and dynamics, enticing the listener with somber strings and softly spoken vocals. Kirk Unit builds upon sonic textures, entangled with melodic bass and guitar, which are laced by synthetic beats. Much of the album feels dreamlike and has a common theme of being subterranean (in both literal and symbolic context). Though the instrumentation varies from electronics to guitars to sheet metal, the bass is a central focus. Kirk Unit cites such influences as Yo La Tengo, Mogwai, The Cure, Three Mile Pilot, The For Carnation, and more. Kirk Unit can be found playing mostly in the northwest states.

"Kirk Unit is one of those bands with one guy doing everything, and that guy is Jasun Hadaway. Hadaway creates aural landscapes, incorporating soft guitar melodies, electronic drumbeats, noise samples and whispered vocals on his debut self-titled CD. It's mellow indie-pop with shades of bands like the Cure ("Downcraft" is almost too blatantly borrowed from said band) and Mogwai..."
