EVOKA is a alternative rock band based out of Winston-Salem, NC. The band has been compared to acts such as the Jimmy eat World, Remy Zero, Ours, Kent & Radiohead. Evoka was conceived in May 2000 when Taylor, singer/songwriter, composed a few songs for friend Bryan Ledbetter to hear. They decided to form a band and record an ep at Mitch Easter's Fidelitorium Studios. The ep, "Stranger Than Fiction", was released in January 2001 and a full band was put together and hit the southeast club circuit. Evoka quickly sold out of the 1000 demo copies pressed & helped Evoka establish themselves create a buzz about the band and live performance. In December 2001, the band decided to re-record some songs from "Stranger than Fiction" & lay a few new ones down. They re-entered the studio with Producer Ted Comerford at Reel2Real Studios (Blacksburg, VA). Evoka enlisted rock veteran Lou Giordano (Goo Goo Dolls, Sunny Day Real Estate) & Mitch Easter (REM, Pavement) to mix. The new 6 song ep was titled "December Drive" & was officially released August 20th, 2002 on AudioLab Records. The Band: J.M.
