Duckies Dilemma was a drunken accident, and they have managed to make this apparent in their special blend of punk rock, synth pop and alcohol. The combination of these elements was first suggested on a clear night in late summer 2000. Nate, Mike and Bert sat together in Berts backyard, consumed staggering quantities of beer (Pyramid) and discussed their musical passions, backgrounds and influences. Within a short period of time and despite Berts awkward appearance, Mikes fascination with his own belly-button and Nates fear of everything an agreement was made to meet later that week to start a funk band...A funk band? Nate wept.

The initial meeting was awkward - soberness was a major road block as well as Nates lack of keyboard playing ability, Mikes rustiness on drums and Berts ego - but they played through it - for about 15 minutes and then mike eagerly volunteered to go buy beer. Duckies was primarily a 3-peice hobby for the first few months. Nate was attempting to conquer that thing that makes your left hand do the same thing as your right, Mike was battling muscle failure, and Bert was busy driving without a license... but songs were being written at a feverish pace and talk of actually getting a bass player became bass player auditions. After months of searching, many sleepless nights and frequently questioning their own sanity (this is an exaggeration to add color and keep your interest) a bass player and a second guitarist were added to the line up - Tom on Bass and Kolen on guitar. With this line-up Duckies first album, December, was recorded and mixed down in a record setting three days (thanx to Temple sound and Tony Reed).

After spending a few days in the studio Duckies confidence soared and they began to book shows on a more regular basis playing venues like Planet Hot Rod and The Graceland. On Oct. 5, 2001 due to tragic events, The Dilemma played their last show with Tom.

Duckies album was released on Oct. 9, 2001 (currently available at most independent music retailers in the Seattle area and beyond). Slowly Duckies has picked the pace back up, adding Norman to the line up on bass. Currently Duckies Dilemma is working on their second album, playing shows and will soon be released on a Manuki Records compilation.
