Breaking Down... is the critically acclaimed follow-up to their first independent album STRONG LIKE PRAWN. Originally released on Lost Records in March 2004 without formal distribution, Breaking Down... quickly nailed the #1 and #2 slots on the !Earshot Loud Charts for April and May, respectively. They have also wrapped a VideoFact funded music video, won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands for a place on Vans Warped Tour '04, and won four of the 2004 Georgia Straight Readers Choice Awards for Best Local Album, Band, Guitarist and Drummer. Vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Billy the Kid (a.k.a.Billy Pettinger) - armed with her Lost Boys' Aaron Weiss on bass, drummer Casey Lewis and a steadfast D.I.Y. ethic - has garnered fans coast to coast with veraciously raw & honest lyrics set against a backdrop of melodic guitar, razor-sharp riffs, thrumming bass lines & hammering drums. Billy + the Lost Boys' live show captures the uncompromising, in-your-face spirits of Husker Du and The Clash. A showcase at Canadian Music Week in March 2004 caused Chartattack.com (Mar.'04) to bluntly state: "Kid makes Joan Jett look like a pussycat." "Growing up listening to Billy Bragg, Elvis Costello and the Police made us want to write catchy songs that get stuck in your head but aren't afraid to break the rules," said Kid. "The Clash and D.O.A. taught us how powerful and exciting live music with a message can be and Johnny Cash showed us how to make every word count." As they've blazed a trail through the all ages circuit, the fiercely hardworking & heavily gigging trio have become known for their extraordinary on-stage enthusiasm with most shows culminating in a sweaty mass of Lost Boys piled high, stage center. "There's just no other drug like it," said Kid. "If we're not playing live, we start to miss it so much so we hit the road for a fix. That's why we've done three national tours in the last four months and we wanted to do even more shows in between all of those." Constructively killing time before a nationwide tour in support of Breaking Down... Billy + the Lost Boys recently stepped into Lemonloaf Studios with producer Blair Calibaba (Gob, Sum 41) behind the controls. Calibaba left his indelible mark on the three freshly demoed tracks and, with the hope of more collaborations in the near future, professed: "I can't stop listening to these songs. You guys just keep it up - you're going somewhere." Boompa Records will be releasing BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS THAT BREAK DOWN YOUR MUSIC in a re-mastered format complete with bonus tracks and new cover art. The full-length will be serviced to college radio stations nationwide with the lead single "You Get What Everyone Gets" going out to independent rock radio on September 15th.
