Guitarist Woody Aplanalp grew up watching his dad and uncle play sax with the likes of Shuggie Otis, Buddy Miles and Elvin Jones. And now it's his turn to carry the family's musical torch. With the roots of a jazz man, Woody's shows are never the same. Backed by drummer Pete McNeal (ex-Cake) and bassist John Avila (Oingo Boingo and Food for Feet), Papa Woody's first release continues to showcase the versatility the supermusician has demonstrated while playing with R&B blues legend Bobby Womack, African music luminary Thomas Mapfumo, experimental noise jazz artist Nels Cline and rock icons Mike Watt and Stephen Perkins. After a 10-year career as a musician with those and other bands, Woody has launched his solo career.
