Oh Jimmy's new EP "Free On Rails" represents some of the best, most-exciting music to come out of New York in some time. A few thoughts. . . Oh Jimmy. What is it? Between you and I, I think it's an accident. I mean, how can it not be? Four people who like to play my songs for people who like to hear them. Damn. What else could it be? Well, perhaps it's not an accident but even worse. Like a mistake. I mean, we're not alt-rock or alt-country. We're not hard rock. And we're certainly not POP!-rock like they play on the radio nowadays. We're not Radiohead either, by the way. Damn. Well, maybe it's a mistake (my mistake) but I think we're just plain, old-fashioned American rock and roll. You can call it roots rock if you must but our experience is that people generally have to ask what the hell that means. Not a promising sign. In the end why bother calling it anything? Last I checked we just played music. It's like a return of sorts... a homecoming to something you can touch, even if only a little. Something that you can feel. A return to something that is real. I suppose it's not alternative-anything. It's THE alternative to the alternatives. All I know is this: this music is in our hearts. It moves us and we hope it moves other people too. Moves them to do what I don't know. But it doesn't really matter to me either. Somebody once said we're the most sincere band in New York. Imagine that. - NH Check out the artist's website: http://www.ohjimmy.com Track List: 1. Turn 2. Saturday Night 3. Song For Skip 4. Anybody 5. I've Been Around Suggested CDs:Other Genres:
