UNA VEZ MAS, the second full-length release from New England's Dreadnaught, is an eclectic and vibrant sonic excursion that veers from the tightly arranged, hook-filled "Danny" to the improvisational progressive/soul hybrid "Nag Champ-a-laya." Produced by Dreadnaught and engineered by Shaun 'Frenchie' Michaud of Event, UNA VEZ MAS introduces the genre-forging sound of 'progabilly,' described by Northeast Performer as "manic, moving like a twisted 'Alice in Wonderland' dreamlike fairytale with a carnivalesque country sound." The band played just under 250 shows across NH, MA, ME, VT, RI, NY, NJ, DC, and VA in support of UNA VEZ MAS. Dreadnaught's new release THE AMERICAN STANDARD (2001, Red Fez Records) is also available through cdbaby.com. The band will embark on a national tour in support of the album. Please visit www.dreadnaughtrock.com for the latest news and an up-to-the-minute listing of the band's tour schedule. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: "'Danny' [is] powered by one of the greatest song hooks you'll ever hear - until the track surprisingly heads off into Sun Ra territory. Highly enjoyable." WORCESTER PHOENIX (MA) "Zappa meets Yes at Willie Nelson's BBQ... Rick Habib on drums and lead vocals seems to channel Levon Helm's Big Pink feeling into his vocals, while Justin Walton on lead guitar and vocals imparts classic but progressive styling with ease... Lord's bass playing is as energetic and intricately woven as Yes' Chris Squire's bass work, but with deeper warmth and feeling." BOSTON SOUNDCHECK (MA) "Any band that sounds like King Crimson at a hoedown (or Mr. Bungle milking cows) you just have to pay attention to... Dreadnaught has this way of corkscrewing their way through an arrangement, taking catchy bits and pieces from here and there and forming them into a stew that feeds all present. Musicians can sit and be jealous of Dreadnaught's talent, fans can hear some great songs and dance... Dreadnaught, as one of the better rock 'n' roll mutations I've ever heard, have found a way out of modern rock's caverns that not only is inventive and fresh-sounding, but manages to keep the integrity of what they are doing intact as well..." SHOWCASE (NH) "It wasn't until after the show that I took a close look at their list of upcoming gigs, and when I did, I was flabbergasted. These guys are working their asses off... They are purposefully and without any small sacrifice bringing their music to us, the people who are going out to see real people play real gigs."
