Celebrating two years in the making, Sunday Afternoon is proud to announce the release of their (2002) debut album "Stories." This five member ensemble captivates its audiences with an energetic, lively, and catchy performance; successfully blending an uncommon combo of musical tastes. Upon the album's release, Sunday Afternoon, had the fortunate obligation to open for Sugar Ray at Tucson's Centennial Hall, and has sold over 3500 copies since that February evening. Less than a year later Sunday Afternoon is continuing to open for national acts including Leftover Salmon and Pseudopod, while expanding their fan base into southern California and the west coast college market. Sunday Afternoon, formed in the first spring of the new millennium when guitarist Joey Unger and vocalist Rick Paz joined with Ryan Roscoe on saxophone in the interest of making free music. As the trio began to meet frequently, a local musician Dan Howarth added diversity to the songs with his unique Warr guitar styling. Dan no longer plays with the band, but sustains the right to perform as a special guest on special occasions. As gigs became frequent, and unprecedented local numbers came out to the bars, it wouldn't take much to lure bassist Tyler Tafeaga away from his regular Las Vegas gigs and establish the solid rythmic foundation for which Sunday Afternoon has become known. One demo and two drummers later, (including Rick,) the addition of drummer/percussionist Ryan Janac has made this happening band, a very solid package.
