Bio Since his early years, when he could be found glued to the headphones with "Abbey Road" spinning on the turntable, Steven Pile has been steeped in music. A Northern California native, he headed to the damper climes of Portland, OR, (and Alaska) where he established himself as songwriter and guitarist, and released his debut, "Overnight." He recently relocated to Austin, TX, to record his second album, "Home For Right Now." Steven's songs have been said to "capture the full drop of roots music." The Albuquerque Journal describes him as "a folk/blues/country hybrid who plays a mean slide guitar at one turn and tears off a sweet pop melody the next." His lyrics explore new ground, though they hint at John Prine's sense of humor, Townes Van Zandt's poetics and Paul Simon's melodic sense. His guitar playing is sometimes wanton and gutsy, sometimes intricate and subtle. He distills elements of contempories like Richard Thompson and David Rawlings with nods to blues greats like Robert Johnson and Blind Willie Johnson. Steven Pile's second album, Home for Right Now, is set to be released in June 2005. Acclaimed Austin producer Stephen Doster is producing the record which features Brad Houser (Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians, Critters Buggin') on Bass, as well as guest musicians including Brian Standaefer(Patty Griffin), Bukka Allen, Paul Brainard, and Eamon McLoughlin(the Greencards), among others. The album contains a co-write with Austin favorite, Michael Fracasso, and a Delta Blues stomp with Guy Forsyth. Check out the artist's website: http://www.stevenpile.com Track List: 1. Disheveled 2.
