In the fall of 2001 Ethan Rossiter moved from Boston to the Large Apple. He stepped away from the world of teaching High School English to pursue his fantasy of playing and performing his own music. Ethan played open mics, drank Bud Lights, bought a "gig bag," and walked around putting up flyers. He met a drummer named Neil Girardi then a bass player named Clell Tickle. By this time he had made an eight song solo album called "Troubleshooter." The music was missing flavor, and something needed to change. So Clell went his separate way...and two months later Spacecake was formed. By this time Kathleen McGah had become a permanent member on the back-up V's, adding much needed I-three type harmonies. Ethan then ran into an old musician friend from High School named Josh Kennedy. He soon came aboard with his big hollow body he called the Brown Bear, and took Ethan's songs to a funky spot with his warm, groovy lead. The final addition to the Spacecake formula was Mr. Chuck Dixon, a soft-spoken, hard-working bass man who can hold down the bottom like a moldy grapefruit in the pantry. So after five months of playing around NYC, Spacecake has released "Hand in the Honey Jar." Each song shows that the Spacecake flavor is upbeat and catchy but hard to put into one category. In the next year the band hopes to spread its sound and energy. So please grab a copy and break some off. Check out the artist's website: http://www.spacecakemusic.com Track List: 1.
