Out of Place was formed in the autumn of 2000 in small-town Elk Grove, CA. Brothers Adam and Lucas Thompson, joined forces with long time friend Steve Saxby to form this powerful acoustic rock trio that has been building a fan base throughout California for the past five years. Their music is a solid blend of acoustic rock, pop, and alternative created by combining Adam’s personal lyrics and steady chord motion with Steve’s melodic bass lines and Lucas’s advanced and eclectic drumming. The band started playing coffee shops and small clubs in the Sacramento area and have been climbing steadily up the musical ladder with the release of their debut album, Tiny Heart Attack (March 2005). The album kicked off a CD Release show with The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex (of Smashing Pumpkins), triggered radio play by local Sacramento Station KWOD 106.5, and continues to sell in many record stores throughout the area. Out of Place won both the 100.5 The Zone Battle of the Bands and Got Milk? Battle of the Bands (Northern CA region) in 2005 and are currently in the Semi-finals of the Emergenza Battle of the Bands taking place in San Francisco. The 2006 line-up of shows includes wineries, various club shows, the Sacramento County Fair, as well as others currently in the works.
