True emotion and honesty are palpable throughout the clean, pure sound of any full set played by Tsumi (formerly norm4eva), an acoustic rock band from Lincoln, Nebraska. It all began in October of 2003 when Heather Rupp (rhythm guitar, vocals, lyrics) was asked by Luke Sticka (lead guitar) if it would be all right if he sat in on a few songs at a local open stage. Instantly they both knew that this was something different. Neither Sticka nor Rupp had been in a band of any consequence before, and for some reason that made it more important that they start one now. The next day Rupp called Jeremiah Moore to play djembe drum and within a month, they were getting paying gigs. Rupp had been playing solo for nearly eight years before meeting the rest of the band so it wasn't long before their set list reached two hours long including only three cover songs. Soon after Nick Semrad of Travis and the Flamecats and Electric Soul Method joined the band, filling out the sound with his beautiful piano playing. Aaron Wright, formerly of Magnificent 7 and current owner of Wright Sound Studios and Wright Amplification, also joined in to add a permanent bass player. Together they produce an almost tangible chemistry." -Daily Nebraskan May 2004 With an instant rapport between each other that made them closer to family than just friends, it made sense to begin planning for their first album quickly. In December of 2004, Tsumi (under the name norm4eva) completed recording their first album to be entitled moth, which features ten original songs including two of the new songs written since the band began. After releasing their debut album in June of 2005, Tsumi keeps busy playing at venues such as Duggan's Pub, The Royal Grove, Knickerbockers, and The Zoo Bar, sharing nights with such varied acts as jazz/soul artists Electric Soul Method, bluegrass rock band Blue Berry Merry, or indie rockers Once a Pawn and Soular.
