kim ruehl has been zigging and zagging around the country from pillar to post for the last some-odd years, playing anywhere at any given time -- from orlando to boston to portland to phoenix, and just about everything in between. after serving her time in the new york city folk scene, she decided to fly south for the winter and wound up getting sucked into the succulant swamps of new orleeeenz. after nine months there, a stop in orlando and a summer tour, ruehl found herself heading out to seattle to set up shop and start a non-profit arts production company. there you can find her hanging out anwhere the beer is cheap and the music is hootin'.

this cd tracked her down in the winding hills of winder, georgia, one dark, cold and foggy night in early november, 2002. the place was called 106 WEST. it's a little church that becky and thom bought. they turned it into a super comfortable performance space/co-op that has a recording studio in it somewhere. they serve coffee drinks and concessions that compliment coffee, like quesadillas and other tasty treats. next time you're in the atlanta/athens area, stop in and check it out.

but in the meantime, check out this record made live there, thanks to thom's video camera. david at ultrasonic studios in new orleans translated it to cd, and now it's just itching to plop itself into your hot little hands.
