KIMBERLY FAITH JONES BIOGRAPHY

A defining moment in the life of Kimberly Faith Jones came as the result of a family tragedy. The summer before she planned to leave her hometown of Paducah, Kentucky for college, Kim had, on a whim, decided to enter the Miss Paducah contest. A few short weeks before the contest, however, her father shot and killed her mother in an alcoholic blackout. Although such a traumatic event would understandably have overcome many people, Kim was able, in spite of the pain she was suffering, to find inspiration in the deep love she felt for her parents. She pressed forward with her commitments, as she knew her mother would have wished.

Kim not only won the contest title, but the coveted talent portion singing a tour de force ballad, "Don't Make Me Cry" to a standing ovation. In that triumph over despair were sown the seeds of a growing insight into the impossible contradictions that make life so hard, so painful, so rich. Her music naturally reflects these qualities. Bluesman Lew Jetton of 61 South recently commented on the singer/songwriter's debut album...

"Product of an Addicted Culture" combines wonderful and addictive arrangements with lyrics which are at the same time, cutting and at times painfully introspective. Jones songs at times, soar with optimism and also, display distinct insight into pain, sometimes at the same time. The songs are wonderfully crafted, and superbly produced and performed. Jones has proven herself a wonderful songstress and vocalist. This is powerful stuff. "

Kimberly Faith Jones has both a broad vocal and emotional range. “PRODUCT OF AN ADDICTED CULTURE” is a collection of 13 original songs that span the human experience via love, loss, isolation, temptation, addiction, and redemption. This complete artist wrote all her own songs, sang all of the vocals, and produced the "Acoustic Sessions". She also was the Executive Producer of this, her first album.

Fully aware of the irony, she affectionately calls her genre Alternative Pop. “I never knew what to say when people asked me what kind of music I played, so I just made something up. And now, the more I think about it, it’s a really good description of what I do.” she laughs.

Kim’s influences include Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Robert Plant, Sarah McLachlan and Ani DiFranco. “My style is my own,” she says, “Because my influences were so broad. When people try to compare me to other artists, I never hear the same thing twice and that makes me smile… people don’t like to be put into boxes.”
