Over the past few years, Kevin Caffrey has been carving a nice little niche for himself as one of Long Island's premiere singer/songwriters. However - this isn't your father's 'singer/songwriter'. Caffrey fuses elements such as rock, folk, and synth-pop to create a catchy brand of emotional, heartfelt music. Eclectic in nature, he jumps from one different musical genre to the next without ever losing his unique perspective on songwriting. Inspired by arists as diverse as Yes, Faith No More, Peter Gabriel, and Crowded House, Kevin Caffrey has been recording albums on his own since the age of fourteen. "Packaged To Play" was released in the fall of 2000, the title of the album a humorous nod to the struggle that independent artists face when trying to get their music heard. If something's not 'packaged to play', most people disregard the product regardless of how strong the material may be. Following its release, Caffrey appeared on college radio stations around Long Island such as WHPC 90.3 and WUSB 90.1 to promote the album. In addition, he began The Packaged To Tour Project in January 2001. The Packaged To Tour Project focused on trying to stress the importance of supporting original music. In a world where cover bands and tribute bands seem to all-too-often dominate local music scenes, Caffrey basically went out and played as often as he could at places in New York City and Long Island in an effort to bring original music to the masses. His efforts resulted in several high profile shows including an opening spot for Freak Parade (featuring Moogy Klingman of Todd Rundgren's Utopia) in July 2001. Furthermore, Packaged To Play also caught the attention of mainstream press. Describing Caffrey as "the great white rasp of the South Shore" (a reference to his current hometown on Long Island), Kevin Amorim of New York Newsday graded Packaged To Play B+ for performance, B for songwriting, and B for sound quality. Kevin's latest album, NOAH'S DOG, is set to be available through CDBaby.com by late January 2006. The leadoff single from the album, "Slow Motion," is currently up at Garageband.com to download for free. Check out the artist's website: http://www.kevincaffrey.com Track List: 1. Eternal Forever 2.
