"Lullabies for the out-of-working class" Vice "Night caps don't get any better than this" Exclaim "The songs are great, the mood is consistent, the vocals and lyrics are beautiful, and the instrumentation is varied and has punch. However, what really stands out in the songs are the little parts; the chord change that comes out of nowhere to completely floor you, or a quiet backup vocal harmony." Fake Jazz Greg Weeks has amassed a fervent following through his steady approach to folk melodies with beautifully fingerpicked guitar. Awake Like Sleep is like a lost sixties chamber folk record, filled with vintage instrumentation and old-timey strange song goodness. One must go to McDonald And Giles' self-titled one-off or Comus' First Utterance for something comparable, but Leonard Cohen or Nico's work might not be far off either. It made the top ten list for 2001 of two critics who contributed to Village Voice's Pazz n Jop poll. Check out the artist's website: http://www.badabingrecords.com Track List: 1. These Days 2.
