Five

One thing I attempted to do with the recording of 5 was to keep it more true to who I am and not fret too much about small details. I used the same mic that I sing with live - my trusty old Beta-58 - and I worked with the band. This is not a novel concept but considering that I did Afraid to Dance without a "band" and with some hired guns it was very different from my perspective. I played all the acoustic guitar and tried not to micro-manage too much (but don't ask the band about this.)

Furthermore, after the seemingly never-ending process of the last CD, I didn't want to lock into too long a project where we'd have time to start getting weird about stuff and second guessing everything. Anyway, this CD definitely offers a snapshot of what we're doing now and is therefore truly a record. I suppose this bio is meant to sell the product and perhaps I should attempt some hype here but I'm personally exhausted from all the hype surrounding the latest "sensation" in the music industry. I just saw several days ago that Ashlee Simpson "tops the charts" so perhaps you understand what I'm saying. I still believe in the song and feel that the "artist" should be the one writing the song being performed. I used to stare at the covers of Let it Be and Abbey Road and wonder how the hell those guys thought of the songs they wrote - it was their voices singing their songs and it meant something to them. And that's always been important to me. I think - if I may say so - that 5 has some good songs and I hope you agree.
