In 1996 singer/songwriter Christopher Barickman began touring in and around New York City under the name of Chris Black. He recorded and released his first CD, A Mind Is A Terrible Thing, in 1997. In 1998 he recorded and released his second CD, Waiting for June, and began touring Ireland and continental Europe. He and fellow songwriter Dave Grogan formed Poor Uncle Harry and toured Ireland in the summer of 1999. After the collapse of that project Barickman hitchhiked around Europe and eventually settled in Brno, Czech Republic. Since then he has released a solo acoustic album Blind and the CD Joe which he recorded in Brno with Irish drummer Dearbhail O'Flynn. Barickman's music is dark, angry, and brooding yet melodic and full of energy. His subject matter is manic-depression, alcoholism, God, love and missed or broken connections.
