In 1998 vocalist Vassili and guitarist Eric Jaeger quit their day jobs and Children of the Revolution was born. They experimented for 6 months, blending music from their Greek and flamenco roots with American rock influences and began to perform in Seattle clubs. Over time, they were joined by some of Seattle's most talented multi-ethnic singers, dancers and musicians including a mad violinist from Broadway, a stunning young belly dancer, a flamenco dancer from Barcelona, Spain, the foremost Middle Eastern and Latin percussionists in the region, and a Venezuelan folk/punk singer who's gritty vocal style and stage presence rivals that of Janice Joplin. The show that evolved is a non stop rollercoaster weaving effortlessly through such diverse styles as rock, flamenco, ska, Greek & Turkish, salsa, r & b, Middle-Eastern and even hip-hop. Whether rockin' out or flamenco dancing, the groups purpose is the same; To unify its performers and audience alike, with a love of life, music, dance and expression regardless of race, age, religion, sex, or political affiliations. They have sold out a broad spectrum of venues ranging from the Century Ballroom and the Sit n Spin to Meany Hall and the Paramount. They have toured regionally through the Northwest and Canada, and performed for over 30,000 people in Puli, Taiwan. Not confined to it's core group of 12 members, COTR have constantly drawn on a wealth of local and international talent including Reggie Watts of Maktub, and Johnny Kalsi of AFRO/CELT SOUND SYSTEM. The group has performed live on a countless radio and TV stations, and their 2 hour concert video has been shown on numerous PBS stations across the country. Children of the Revolution are currently in production on their feature film "Keep Holding On" a satirical comedy on the clichés of world music. With the release of their new CD "Liberation", a national distribution deal with Burnside, and ever growing support from PBS (a fully promoted KCTS prime time pledge drive with KCTS hosts in September), they look to take their message of unity through music to the whole world.
