44SLIDE was formed in the summer of 2002 and started performing in clubs shortly after, focusing on their original music. 44SLIDE has opened up for Nazareth and Glass Tiger. All of the 11 songs on the album are original, written by band leader Kelly Kawula, sometimes in collaboration with others.

The album's title, Slave to the System, is basically about how in this society, there's so much pressure to work 24-7 and getting brainwashed into the idea that everybody needs to have the best of everything, which means less time with your family. We're forced to work harder than ever now.
The music on the album is a diverse collection of sounds, ranging from heavier rock to acoustic-sounds. One even has a touch of blues.

Kawula has been influenced by groups Nickleback, Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Fleetwood Mac and Judas Priest. He has been in the music business for over ten years, playing with a variety of groups. His band 44SLIDE is presently working on songs for a second CD
