The Chicago Music Explosion (chicagomusicexplosion.com) represents a wide range of original Chicago music covering styles from blues, country, RnB, rock, pop, and alternative, and actively encourages exchanges between musical acts in the U.K., the city of Chicago and the Midwest of the USA (this May we brought over Stonefish from Leeds to play five dates in and around the city, last year we hosted two superb groups from Lancaster). In 2002 five superb local Chicago groups (The Convulsions, The Ghettobillies, Melissa Ziemer, Pete Special, and Gary Yerkins (of the Juleps)) visited England from Sept. 30th through Oct. 18th to play shows at the Burnley Mechanics, Exeter (University),Manchester (the Witchwood), Bristol (the Prom), Leeds (the Wardrobe), Morecambe (the Platform), Narbeth (the Queen's Hall), and Berwick (Meadow House). Each year, an album that comprises the music of the participating bands will be released in Chicago and the UK in limited numbers.
