LEATHERHNAD got it's start as a couple of brothers in a Beatles like band playing at the ski lodges in the imfamous resort town of Park City, home of the Sundance film festival. That was over 16 years ago. Jonathan Thelin, aka Jonathan Dean, the oldest brother, and Joshua Thelin, aka J Ruebenford, picked up their younger brother Jared Thelin, aka Stoner Ericson, along the way.

In their early years, they were fortunate to see live acts and powerful musical influences such as The Beach Boys, The Grateful Dead, and Pearl Jam. As teenagers in the Kurt Cobain era, the band migrated to Portland and San Francisco during the summer months where they got to be a part of the Grunge Scene. Motivated by the desire for success, the boys moved to Nashville and learned the true art of writing music. There they had the amazing experience of seeing and playing on a weekly basis with the late, great, Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe. On the eve of success, and record deals, the band decided to move in a new direction to avoid becoming the next big country music act out of Nashville. Band members changed, years passed, and new experiences forged each brother. Jonathan Dean went to LA to make independent films, J Ruebenford went to England to study, and Stoner Ericson returned to Salt Lake City to meditate and ski in the Rocky Mountains. After a time, the brothers rekindeld the passion they shared for music and returned to form the rock group LEATHERHAND. Daily jamming, intense rehearsals, and driving rock performances once again developed the brothers "Leather Hands". After traveling through music scenes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, New York, Nashville, and Atlanta, The Three Thelin brothers arrived in the live music capitol of the world, Austin Texas, which they now call home. An old friend introduced the brothers to drummer extrodinare, Jeremiah Pruett, aka Jeremiah Strangelove, a road dog himself, from Indianapolis, Indiana. With Strangelove slappin the skins, the band developed an original sound described by fans as New Hendrix meets Old Pearl Jam, coupled with White Hot Sex.

With three different writing styles, and playing all original music, LEATHERHAND is one of the most refreshing, exciting, and important live shows you will ever see!
