The album "Never Pet A Burning Dog" is a compilation of various tracks recorded following the break up of the band The Arrows, in late 1970's England.

Alan Merrill was the lead singer of The Arrows, and had several hit singles with the band.

They hosted their own weekly Granada TV series in the UK in 1976-77.

The most well known song Alan Merrill wrote and recorded with The Arrows is a song called "I love rock n roll", which has been covered by Joan Jett, Britney Spears and many others.

The Arrows version was released in 1975 on RAK records, produced by hit-maker Mickie Most.

Alan Merrill has played and recorded with the bands Meat Loaf, Runner, and Derringer in the 80's, and he also acted in the HBO TV series Encyclopedia Brown, as principal character (rocker Casey Sparks) in the feature film production.

In the 1990's Alan Merrill recorded numerous albums with both the New York based Jon Tiven group, and the Tokyo based Vodka Collins, as lead singer of those projects.

The album "Never Pet A Burning Dog" features stellar cameo appearances by such notable guests as Steve Winwood, Mick Taylor, Dallas Taylor, Alan Tarney, Steve Gould, Fiona, and Rick Derringer.

Alan Merrill continues to record individual and intriguing music today, and is always working on new musical projects.

He currently resides in both Paris and New York.
