ULTRAVIOLET EYE

“The best song about drugs, John Peel and America...”Heroin Geek” by Ultraviolet Eye.”-BOSTON PHOENIX

“The group has discovered its niche melding menacing guitars and forceful vocals into a cohesive sound.” -CMJ

”It's got humor and heartache, it's culturally literate and it rocks, too.” --UNDER THE VOLCANO, N.Y

“Fans of Iggy and the Stooges will dig “Voudou Doll” (correct spelling!), as it could pass as a 'Raw Power' outtake. Hey, that does sound a hell of a lot like James Williamson playing lead guitar!”-John Holcomb, AMPLIFIER

“They rock...with some Bowie and T. Rex thrown in for good measure.”-AVENUE PLAYER, N.Y.

“There are a ton of bands that pound out a dismal existence in this town that really deserve more attention. Ultraviolet Eye is one of them. The title track, “Heroin Geek”-is such a great, catchy song that it's really impossible to top. It's one of those songs that I can listen to four times in a row and then listen to again...
There are so many things I hear that it's impossible to lock into exactly what these guys are into. The Beatles? ('Caterpillar' and tons of vocal harmonies.) Jim Carroll...Who...Stones? ('Courtney Love Song,' 'Voodoo Doll.') The Velvet Underground...Dylan? (Especially the ironic tone and storytelling, check 'Girl With A Bruise' and 'She Forgot My Name.') Maybe Television? ('Heroin Geek' has lots of the guitar work and shifting, reminded me of 'Marquee Moon' for some reason.) Then comes 'Ganglia Hour' and I say, 'Forget it.' All in all, an intriguing collection from start to finish.”-Tony Adolescent, FLIPSIDE

“They get a Stooges comparison in the papers, but I think the song writing's more rooted in later Lennon/McCartney psychedelia, with powerful vocals and mind-bending production.”-Martin McMartin, FLIPSIDE

“The diverse music is just an excuse for Jeff's amazing lyrics.”
--HERE BE MONSTERS, UK

“Ultraviolet Eye began life in one of Amsterdam's ubiquitous floating hotels. Vocalist Jeff and bassist Roy were employed as bar staff but would end up on stage when regular musicians became too drunk or stoned to play.” --MEAN STREET
